YogaBellies

Pam Medhurst is an experienced and fully qualified YogaBellies practitioner with over 10 years experience working with women during pregnancy and post-partum with baby. YogaBellies yoga sessions incorporate authentic yogic and holistic techniques, translated into an environment that’s not intimidating and enjoyable for all. YogaBellies classes are unique in that everyone is always welcome, no matter your shape, size or level of yoga practice.

Our classes incorporate traditional yoga asanas (postures), self-hypnosis and deep relaxation along with unique YogaBellies touch therapies and often beautiful songs and games (if baby comes too). We believe in embracing our children and family into our lives, which is why our mum and baby classes also provide positive life building experiences for infants and children. ers sensory stimulation but also enhanced relaxation leading to better sleeping patterns; Baby learns to self soothe and develops key relaxation techniques for the future

 Benefits for Mum

DURING PREGNANCY

Practising yoga postures promotes the circulation of blood and oxygen throughout the body, relaxing both body and mind and promoting a sense of general well-being. And every time you relax, baby relaxes too. It will help build muscle and tone the body, which will give you more energy and our breathing techniques are designed to make your pregnancy easier. It can also make it easier to lose the weight you put on while you’re pregnant.

AFTER PREGNANCY

The main YogaBellies benefits after giving birth focus on rebuilding the abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor; helping alleviate back and neck pain and allowing mum to regain strength and muscle tone at her own pace. Studies show decreased indcidence of post natal depression and encourages mum and baby bonding. It also allows mum to heal and relax along with baby.

BENEFITS FOR BABY

Nobody puts baby in the corner in our class. Baby is fully integrated into mums yoga practice and life; Enhances baby’s immune system; Helps brain and nervous system development and growth; Offers sensory stimulation but also enhanced relaxation leading to better sleeping patterns; Baby learns to self soothe and develops key relaxation techniques for the future

“I cannot recommend YogaBellies enough!! It was such a positive experience for me during my pregnancy on several levels...it allowed me to continue with yoga safely, at a level that was right for me in my ever changing (and growing) body, it provided the opportunity to discuss pregnancy with other mummies to be (including my craving for twiglets), but also gave me the opportunity to meet new friends, which was especially important as a first time mummy.

My yoga breathing was one of he best tools I had in labour, and something that my husband could get involved with, and having practiced weekly in class it came naturally on the day. And let’s not forget Pam’s awesome ginger biscuits, the best way to end any yoga practice.”
