HEY Happiness Group
HEY Happiness GroupThe Hull & East Yorkshire Happiness Group first started in February 2014 after friends Pam and Lynne Emerson read the book The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. LINK https://gretchenrubin.com/
In this book she talks about Happiness Groups and Lynne and Pam decided that if there was one close by that they’d go along and give it a try. There wasn’t, so they set one up. 4 years later the group is still going strong. Lynne and Pam thought that on that very first night it would just be them sitting in a coffee shop, and 10 others turned up.
We celebrated our 4th birthday in February 2018, and on the birthday celebration we share what has made the group happy all the way through the year!
The group focusses on things that make us happy. We’ve looked over the years at music, films, books, places, smells, and many other things. The group is facilitated (usually) by Pam or Lynne (though occasionally a member leads part of the session with one of their passions/skills) and all are welcome. It is a mainly women-centred group, though men are not excluded.
It is a free session, but there is a requirement to buy at least a cuppa from the lovely Gary who runs Pearl’s Place. Most of us buy our tea or a slice of something extra nice. All part of adding to the happiness.
